Welcome to Islington Music Forum

We're a charity that offers music activities for people whose lives are affected by mental health issues. We work in hospitals and in the community providing non-clinical music therapy including music workshops, training and volunteering opportunities, and an ongoing programme of concerts and live events.

Our comunity programme, Key Changes (formerly called Making Tracks) offers innovative and empowering projects for musicians, singers, songwriters, DJ's, MC's and musical poets who are using mental health services in Islington. The Key Changes microsite is packed full of information, pictures, video clips and audio.

Achievements in 2009-10:
  • Provided services for over 500 mental health service users
  • Delivered over 200 workshops in hospitals and the community
  • Concerts at Tottenham Carnival, EC1 Festival,Time For Change in Regents Park, and many others
  • Piloted projects for young people affected by mental health issues and music mentor training  
  • Over 40% of participants from BAME communities
  • Over 10% of participants progressing to further training, volunteering or employment
We work in partnership with health and social care professionals,  statutory and voluntary agencies, including NHS trusts, Community Mental Health Teams, Day Centres, Assertive Outreach, Early Intervention, Occupational Therapists, clinical and ward staff, GPs, Social Workers, Supported Housing groups and many others.

We're a charity that believes in and promotes the creativity of people and the ability of music to bring about positive changes in peoples' lives. From songwriting, compostion, musical poetry, MC-ing, rapping and ryhme, our work celebrates the power of music to express and empower people who are dealing with profound challenges in their everyday lives.
